Rabat is Morocco’s political and Administrative capital. The history of
the city of Rabat dates back to different historical periods, but the initial
establishment of the city dates back to the era of Almoravids, who established
a strong fortress-monastery, called Ribat
in Arabic or Rabat as it is known today. Rabat may be short on top-drawer
tourist attractions, but it compensates with plenty of charm. The capital is
known for the picturesque Kasbah of Oudaya and Chellah as well as the Royal Mausoleum
and nearby Hassan Tower which are easily reachable on foot.
