Ouzoud Waterfalls Full Day Trip

There are spectacular falls to take magnificent photographs of. There are a number of lookout spots from the path to view the falls, and if you wish you can hike up above the waterfalls to look down at the village and path below. From the top of the waterfall it is easy to see the watermills and wheat houses where flour is ground. You may even be able to spot a Barbary monkey sitting in an oak tree eating a snack. The trekking Morocco experience to the cascades shows you a natural wonder found in the heart of the High Atlas Mountains.

Itinerary day by day

Marrakech - Ouzoud Waterfalls - Marrakech

Just 167km and 2 hours driving from Marrakech and a world away from the city heat are the Ouzoud Waterfalls. The trip starts in about 8am by picking you up from your Hotel or Riad in Marrakech or the nearest point accessible to the car. But still the driver come till your Hotel by feet if the car is not accessible to the hotel.

In the way to the waterfalls you’ll be driven by fields of olive trees on a scenic drive towards the Ouzoud Waterfalls. Around 10 AM we’ll jump out for a break to enjoy mint tea or coffee and the beautiful views at the natural bridge of Imi Nifri.

When we’ll be there you can follow well-trodden paths to the base of the falls starts from the top of Ouzoud, to the left of the Dar Essalam, then zigzags past cafes and souvenirs stalls to the great basins below the cascades, where boatmen in rickety rafts row visitors to the pool, the first viewpoint, halfway down the path, is the best spot to see the largest arching rainbow that appears in the mist around the falls, and is close to feel the spray on your face.

At the bottom of the falls you can hike further along the riverbed to more peaceful lower pools where you can swim although strictly speaking it’s not permitted. If you are feeling adventurous an exciting walk explores underground passages close to the nearby Berber village. Along the way, you might spot the occasional Barbary macaque under the oak and pomegranate trees; your best chance is at daybreak or an hour or so before dusk, when they come to drink in the river.

At evening we drive back to Marrakech
