The small sleepy town of Skoura begins quite suddenly, around 30km east
of Ouarzazate. Along a tributary of the Draa valley, and the Amerdil. It’s an
extraordinary sight even from the road. Skoura is surrounded by an impressive
and very dense palmery, which was laid out in the 12th century by
the Almohad. The fabulous Kasbahs in the southern oasis of Morocco are to be
found here. Some of these are still partially inhabited, and some are attached
to private houses.
