Tamnougalt Kasbah
16km from Agdz a track branching off to the left leads to the majestic ksar of Tamnougalt, the oldest in morocco and perhaps the most dramatic and extravagant of any in the locality. It was once controlled access to the trade routes of the Draa valley. The ksar that perched on a hill was once the capital of the region and its assembly of families administrated what was virtually an independent republic. Tamnougalt has also a former mellah (Jewish quarter) with synagogue.
